An Interactive School Activity that will Inspire Elementary Students showcasing, “Living Life with Leo”
An inspiring visit from Diane Nienas, author of the children’s book series, “Living Life with Leo,” will encourage students to see the potential in all people in a book that celebrates the power of inclusion. The publication captures the story of how a boy named Leo lived his life with special needs and experienced many wonderful adventures with his friends and family.
The lesson within the book teaches students about the special characteristics of people, and how playtime can create an inclusive space for all. During the read aloud portion of the author visit, Diane will guide students to dive deeper into the beautiful illustrations of the story and discover how our differences make us special. See the joy in the children’s faces as they listen intently to the story, find the cardinals hidden within the pages, and interact with Diane in a Q&A regarding how to engage with peers who appear different. Finally, students are encouraged to participate in a craft that features the cardinal companion while the author checks in to see their work.
The program is intended for elementary school audiences with up to three 45-minute read throughs of the “Living Life with Leo” series. Asking rate for this package is $350 + traveling expenses; negotiable. Diane also asks that a book order form be included to send home with students. If you are interested in seeing if this is the right fit for your community, please reach out via email to discuss the specific needs of your school.
